Miley Cyrus Honoured as Youngest Disney Legend

Miley Cyrus was celebrated as the youngest-ever recipient of Disney’s prestigious Legend Award on Sunday, 11 August.

The 31-year-old pop star and actress, known for her breakout role as Hannah Montana, was visibly emotional as she accepted the accolade to a standing ovation from a crowd of 12 000 at the D23 fan event in Anaheim, California.

Reflecting on her journey from a teenage Disney star to an acclaimed artist, the singer expressed pride in her time as Hannah Montana, a character that shaped her early career and resonated with fans worldwide.

“A little bit of everything has changed, but at the same time, nothing has changed at all,” she tearfully remarked during her acceptance speech, dedicating the award to her fans and those who helped make her dream a reality.

Cyrus’ role as Hannah Montana remains a cultural touchstone for many, and she has hinted at a possible return to the character, which reflects her continued connection to the persona that launched her into stardom.

Disney chief executive officer, Bob Iger, praised Cyrus and the other honourees, including Harrison Ford, Angela Bassett, and Jamie Lee Curtis, acknowledging their enduring contributions to the company’s legacy.
